Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Canola Oil Slightly nutty, very neutral flavor. Use 1:1 ratio with sunflower oil.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Fruity and peppery. Use light or refined for baking. Use 1:1 ratio.
  • 1 tablespoon Avocado Oil Buttery taste, high smoke point (520°F). Use 1:1 ratio for high heat cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil Neutral and similar texture. Use 1:1 ratio with sunflower oil.
  • 1 tablespoon Grapeseed Oil Light, slightly nutty. Emulsifies cleanly. Use 1:1 ratio for medium heat or dressings.
  • 1 tablespoon Light Coconut Oil Mild coconut aroma, solidifies below 76°F. Use 1:1 ratio for baking or low heat cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon Safflower Oil Mild, very close match in taste and smoke point. Use 1:1 ratio, no adjustments needed.

Method

  1. Choose your substitute based on cooking method: avocado or safflower oil for high heat, canola, vegetable, or light coconut oil for baking, others for dressings or medium heat.
  2. Warm or gently heat solid oils like light coconut oil before use to liquefy them if needed.
  3. Use each substitute in a 1:1 ratio to replace sunflower oil without changing measurement.
  4. Adjust based on flavor preferences, especially with olive oil, which has a stronger taste.
  5. After preparation, check taste and consistency, making minor adjustments as needed for desired results.

Notes

Warm light coconut oil gently before measuring to prevent solid clumps and ensure smooth texture in recipes.
