Smoky Chipotle Ranch Dressing

No ratings yet
Chipotle adds a smoky kick to creamy ranch without overwhelming the herbs and garlic you expect in every spoonful, making a thick, flavorful dressing perfect for salads, dips, and more.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes
Servings: 1.5 cups
Course: Dressing & Dip

Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup mayonnaise chilled, full-fat
  • 0.33 cup buttermilk chilled
  • 2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce minced, remove seeds for milder heat
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced (or ½ teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • salt to taste

Equipment

  • Medium bowl To mix all ingredients
  • Whisk For blending the ingredients smoothly
  • Plastic wrap or airtight container For chilling the dressing

Method

  1. Whisk the mayo, buttermilk, and minced chipotle peppers in a medium bowl until smooth and uniform.
  2. Stir in fresh dill, parsley, chives, minced garlic, onion powder, and salt until the herbs are evenly distributed without breaking down too much.
  3. Taste and adjust salt or add more chipotle if desired. The flavor mellows slightly as it chills.
  4. Cover bowl with plastic wrap or transfer to airtight container; refrigerate for 30 minutes to thicken and blend flavors.
  5. Stir dressing before serving; use as a salad dressing, veggie dip, or sauce for tacos and grain bowls.

Notes

Whisk mayo, buttermilk, and chipotle peppers until smooth to prevent separation and ensure even smoky heat distribution.
