Ingredients

  • Cottage cheese Choose full-fat for richness or low-fat for lighter texture; brand affects graininess
  • Fresh berries Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries; rinse and dry well to prevent watery buildup
  • Banana or mango Slice banana thin or cube mango into bite-size pieces for ideal texture
  • 1 teaspoon Honey or maple syrup Start with 1 teaspoon per serving and adjust to taste; local honey adds floral notes, maple brings warmth
  • Nuts or seeds Almonds, walnuts, pumpkin or sunflower seeds add crunch; toast for deeper flavor
  • Granola (optional) Choose low-sugar store-bought granola to keep breakfast less sweet
  • Greek yogurt Use plain unsweetened as 1:1 swap for cottage cheese; thicker and tangier
  • Frozen fruit (thawed and drained) Drain excess liquid completely to avoid watery bowl
  • Maple syrup or agave nectar Maple tastes earthier, agave is milder; similar sweetness levels
  • Seeds (pumpkin or sunflower) Nut-free alternative with similar crunch; pumpkin seeds richer, sunflower seeds milder
  • Skyr Higher protein alternative dairy; similar uses as Greek yogurt
  • Ricotta Creamier and slightly sweet, but loses curd texture

Method

  1. Scoop ½ to ¾ cup cottage cheese or Greek yogurt into a chilled bowl.
  2. Arrange fresh fruit or thawed and drained frozen fruit over the dairy base in sections.
  3. Drizzle 1 teaspoon honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar over the fruit.
  4. Sprinkle nuts, seeds, or granola on top just before serving to keep crunch.
  5. Optionally, add a squeeze of fresh lemon or orange juice for brightness.

Notes
