Cheesy Stuffed Pizza Rolls

No ratings yet
Golden-brown dough wraps around stretchy mozzarella and zesty pizza sauce, baking into crisp hand-held bites perfect for game-day crowds or quick snacks. Fork-sealed edges keep fillings contained, with a crispy crust achieved by flipping rolls halfway through baking.

Cuisine: American, Italian-Inspired

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough room temperature for easier rolling and less snap-back
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella part-skim
  • 0.5 cup pizza sauce thick marinara or similar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil regular grade for brushing tops
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning dried herbs

Equipment

  • Baking sheet lined with parchment for easy flipping and crisping
  • Rolling pin to roll dough to one-eighth-inch thickness
  • Fork to seal edges with crimped ridge

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Roll the dough on a floured surface to about one-eighth-inch thickness, then cut into sixteen even rectangles.
  3. Brush each piece lightly with olive oil before spooning filling onto one half.
  4. Spoon one tablespoon sauce onto the center of each rectangle, top with a tablespoon of cheese, then sprinkle a pinch of Italian seasoning over the filling.
  5. Fold the dough over the filling to form a pocket, then press the edges with a fork to seal tightly and create a crimped border.
  6. Brush the tops lightly with olive oil, then bake for 12 to 14 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.
  7. Let the rolls rest on the pan for 3 minutes so the cheese stabilizes before serving.

Notes

Press edges with a fork firmly to seal filling and prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
