Ingredients

  • 8 oz shrimp peeled and deveined, pat dry before chopping
  • 8 slices white bread crusts removed
  • 3 units green onions chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 unit egg
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil toasted
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds use with light brush of oil or water for adhesion

Method

  1. Pat shrimp completely dry with paper towels, then pulse in a food processor 6-8 times until coarsely chopped. Mix in egg, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil until just combined; avoid over-mixing to prevent gummy paste.
8 oz shrimp, 1 unit egg, 3 units green onions, 2 cloves garlic, 1 tsp fresh ginger, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil
  2. Remove crusts from white bread slices using a sharp knife. Spread shrimp paste evenly on each slice in a ¼-inch thick layer, pressing gently so it sticks.
8 slices white bread, 8 oz shrimp
  3. Brush tops of shrimp paste lightly with water or oil, then sprinkle sesame seeds evenly. Press seeds gently to help them adhere during cooking.
    2 tbsp sesame seeds
  4. Preheat air fryer to 350°F. Place shrimp toast in a single layer with 1-inch gaps between pieces. Cook for 4-5 minutes until edges start turning golden.
  5. Carefully flip each piece using a spatula. Cook another 4-5 minutes until the bread is crispy golden and shrimp filling is opaque. Let rest for 2 minutes before serving to set the filling.

Notes

  • Pat shrimp thoroughly dry before pulsing to prevent soggy paste and ensure adhesion to bread.
  • Leave at least 1-inch gaps between pieces in air fryer basket to allow hot air circulation for even crisping.
  • Let shrimp toast rest 2 minutes after cooking to let the filling set and prevent it from falling off when biting.
