Air Fryer Scotch Eggs

No ratings yet
Air Fryer Scotch Eggs are hard-boiled eggs wrapped in seasoned sausage, coated in breadcrumbs, and air fried to a golden crisp. The air fryer crisps the coating quickly while keeping the sausage juicy and the yolk slightly creamy. This recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners and meal prep without the need for deep frying.

  2. Pat peeled eggs dry and dust lightly with flour. Divide 1 lb ground pork sausage into 6 equal portions, flatten each into a thin patty, and wrap around each egg, pressing to seal completely with no gaps.
6 large eggs, 1 lb ground pork sausage, 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  3. Roll each sausage-wrapped egg in flour, then dip in beaten eggs mixed with 1 tablespoon water, and finally roll in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.
1 cup breadcrumbs, 0.5 cup all-purpose flour, 2 large eggs
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F for 3 minutes. Spray coated eggs with oil on all sides. Arrange eggs in the air fryer basket spaced 1 inch apart. Air fry for 7 minutes, flip eggs, then cook for an additional 5-8 minutes until golden brown and sausage reaches 160°F internal temperature.

  5. Remove cooked eggs to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes so the sausage sets. Slice each egg in half to reveal the creamy yolk center and serve.

Notes

  • Cool eggs fully in ice water before wrapping to avoid sticky sausage and broken coating.
  • Spray oil on all coated sides for even browning and to prevent dry breadcrumbs.
  • Leave at least 1 inch space between eggs in the air fryer basket for proper air circulation and crispiness.
  • Flip eggs halfway through air frying to ensure even browning on all sides.
