Air Fryer Honey Garlic Chicken Wings

No ratings yet
Air fryer cooking gives chicken wings a remarkable crisp without drowning them in oil. This version balances a sticky honey garlic glaze with crispy skin for a texture that tempts every bite. The wings develop a glossy coating that highlights the fresh garlic’s punch alongside honey’s mellow sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings whole or separated flats and drumettes, patted dry
  • 2 tablespoons honey fresh for sweet and glossy glaze
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce for umami and salt balance
  • 2 teaspoons garlic fresh minced
  • cooking oil spray to help crisp the skin
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder optional, for extra crispy skin
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar or lemon juice optional, adds acidity to balance richness
  • ¼ teaspoon chili flakes optional, for a touch of heat

Equipment

  • Air fryer For cooking the wings to crispy perfection
  • Mixing bowl For whisking the honey garlic sauce
  • Tongs For tossing the wings in sauce

Method

  1. Pat the wings dry with paper towels to remove moisture, then preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for at least 3 minutes for even, crispy cooking.
  2. Lightly spray or brush wings with oil and dust with baking powder if using. Arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket with some space between pieces.
  3. Cook wings at 380°F for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway. Cook until the skin is golden and crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  4. Whisk honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and optional vinegar or chili flakes together in a bowl. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  5. Toss the cooked wings in the honey garlic sauce immediately to coat evenly.
  6. Optional: Return sauced wings to the air fryer at 400°F for 1-2 minutes to re-crisp the skin if it softened from saucing.

Notes

  • Make sure to dry the wings thoroughly for the crispiest skin.
  • Return wings to the air fryer briefly after saucing to refresh crispness if needed.
  • Store leftover wings in an airtight container and reheat in the oven at 350°F for best results.
