Ingredients

  • 1 head fresh broccoli florets cut into evenly sized florets about 1–1.5 inches across
  • 1 to 1.5 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil to coat broccoli for crispiness and flavor
  • to taste salt to enhance natural flavors and balance roasted notes
  • garlic powder (optional) for savory depth without overpowering
  • lemon zest or juice (optional) adds fresh, tangy brightness after cooking
  • parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast (optional) for rich, umami contrast
  • panko breadcrumbs (optional) provides extra crunchy coating if desired

Equipment

  • Air fryer Preheat to 380°F (193°C) and use the basket for air frying broccoli evenly.
  • Paper towels To dry broccoli florets thoroughly before seasoning.

Method

  1. Cut broccoli into evenly sized florets about 1–1.5 inches across for uniform cooking.
  2. Pat broccoli dry with paper towels to remove moisture and toss well with 1 to 1.5 tablespoons oil and salt.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3–5 minutes before placing broccoli in the basket with space between pieces.
  4. Air fry broccoli for about 8–10 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through for even crispness; look for lightly browned tips and tender stems.
  5. Finish with optional toppings like lemon zest or parmesan immediately after cooking to add flavor and contrast.

Notes

- Cool broccoli completely before storing in airtight containers for meal prep.
- Reheat uncovered in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5–6 minutes to restore crispness.
- Microwave in brief 30-second bursts to avoid sogginess.
- Freeze in airtight containers for up to 2 months, thaw fully before reheating.
- Add lemon juice or drizzle olive oil after reheating for moisture and flavor lift.
- Dry florets thoroughly and avoid overcrowding air fryer basket to keep broccoli crisp.
- Shake basket halfway through cooking to promote even browning and texture.
