  • 1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil Use 1 tablespoon per 1 tablespoon of Hemp Oil. Fruitier and more peppery flavor. Good for dressings and low-heat cooking. Skip if cooking above medium heat.
  • 1 tablespoon Walnut Oil Use 1 tablespoon per 1 tablespoon of Hemp Oil. Rich, nutty with a bitter finish. Best for cold dishes only; do not heat.
  • 1 tablespoon Avocado Oil Use 1 tablespoon per 1 tablespoon of Hemp Oil. Mild, buttery with grassy notes. High smoke point around 520°F; suitable for high-heat cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon Flaxseed Oil Use 1 tablespoon per 1 tablespoon of Hemp Oil. Earthy and slightly bitter. Store in fridge, never heat, flavor is intense.
  • 1 tablespoon Sunflower Oil Use 1 tablespoon per 1 tablespoon of Hemp Oil. Light and neutral flavor with high smoke point around 450°F. Does not mimic nuttiness.
  • 1 tablespoon Grapeseed Oil Use 1 tablespoon per 1 tablespoon of Hemp Oil. Clean, slightly nutty flavor. Mild enough for dressings and medium-heat cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon Canola Oil Use 1 tablespoon per 1 tablespoon of Hemp Oil. Neutral and budget-friendly. Suitable for baking, frying, roasting; no nuttiness.

Method

  1. Pick your substitute based on use: raw dishes benefit from Walnut or Flaxseed Oil; cooking calls for Avocado or Sunflower Oil.
  2. Measure the substitute oil at a 1:1 ratio with the Hemp Oil called for in your recipe.
  3. For cold applications, use oils raw. For cooking, consider the smoke point and use gentle heat when appropriate.
  4. Adjust flavor by tasting as you go, especially with stronger oils like Flaxseed or Walnut Oil to avoid overpowering the dish.
  5. For cooking at higher temperatures, use Avocado Oil for its high smoke point without breaking down or bitterness.
  6. Use Sunflower or Canola Oil for a more neutral taste in baking or mild cooking.
  7. Avoid heating Walnut or Flaxseed Oils to maintain their flavor and prevent bitterness.
  8. Final check: always taste-test your dish after adding substitutes and adjust seasoning or oil amount as needed.

Notes

Taste-test Flaxseed Oil slowly to avoid overpowering the dish with its strong flavor.
