Ingredients

  • 1 cup Oat Milk Use 1:1 ratio. Slightly sweeter and creamy; best for both sweet and savory uses.
  • 1 cup Soy Milk Use 1:1 ratio. Thicker with slight bean flavor; good for savory dishes and emulsions.
  • 1 cup Coconut Milk (Carton, Not Canned) Use 1:1 ratio. Thin but with coconut flavor; avoid if neutral flavor needed.
  • 1 cup Rice Milk Use 1:1 ratio. Very thin and sweeter; avoid if creamy texture needed.
  • 1 cup Cashew Milk Use 1:1 ratio. Rich and creamy texture; good for body without strong flavor.
  • 1 cup Hemp Milk Use 1:1 ratio. Earthy nutty flavor with creamy texture; best in smoothies and baking.
  • Cashew Butter Mix Mix 1 cup water with 1 tablespoon cashew butter; thicker and nutty flavor for richness.

Method

  1. Choose a substitute based on your recipe: oat milk for widest use, soy for savory dishes, coconut for tropical flavor, rice for thin liquid, cashew or hemp for creaminess, or cashew butter mix for richness.
  2. If using cashew butter mix, blend 1 cup water with 1 tablespoon cashew butter until smooth. Adjust water if too thick.
  3. Apply the substitute in a 1:1 ratio with almond milk called for, except cashew butter mix which has its specific ratio.
  4. For hot drinks, oat milk froths best and soy milk holds emulsions without separating.
  5. In baking, oat or soy milk maintain moisture well without curdling or changing texture significantly.
  6. Taste test and adjust for sweetness, especially when using rice or coconut milk, as they are naturally sweeter.
  7. If you notice undesirable flavors or textures, try a different substitute that better matches your recipe’s needs.

Notes

Blend cashew butter mix smoothly to avoid gritty texture and prevent your recipe from becoming too thick or uneven in consistency.
