Ingredients
Method
- Identify what your recipe needs: binding, moisture, or egg replacement.
- Grind whole chia seeds fresh for better gel if using ground chia seeds or psyllium husk.
- For chia seeds or psyllium husk, mix the measured amount with 3 tablespoons water and let sit 3 to 5 minutes to thicken before adding.
- For mashed banana and applesauce, use specified amounts without adding extra water; reduce other liquids slightly if batter is too wet.
- Use ratios as follows: 1 tablespoon ground chia seeds or psyllium husk + 3 tablespoon water, ¼ cup mashed banana, 3 tablespoon applesauce, 1 tablespoon ground hemp seeds per 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed.
- Add your chosen substitute gradually and check batter consistency and flavor before baking or cooking.
Notes
Add ground chia seeds slowly and let gel before mixing to prevent watery batter and ensure proper binding.
