Ingredients

  • 1 cup Peach Jam Use 1:1 ratio with apricot jam; sweeter and less tart
  • 1 cup Apricot Preserves Use 1:1 ratio; chunkier texture, blend for smoothness
  • 1 cup Orange Marmalade Use 1:1 ratio; adds citrus tang and slight bitterness
  • 0.75 cup Honey Lemon Mix Mix ¾ cup honey with lemon juice; won't thicken or gel
  • 1 cup Peach Nectar + Cornstarch Use 1 cup peach nectar with ¼ teaspoon cornstarch, cook to thicken

Method

  1. Choose substitute based on recipe type: peach jam or apricot preserves for glazing/baking; orange marmalade for savory cooking; honey-lemon or nectar mixes for dressings or sauces.
  2. If using preserves, blend in a food processor for about 10 seconds to achieve smooth texture if needed.
  3. Mix honey with lemon juice or peach nectar with cornstarch as applicable; cook peach nectar mix over medium heat while stirring until thickened (about 2 minutes).
  4. Apply substitutes using a 1:1 ratio for jams and marmalade, ¾:1 for honey-lemon; adjust sweetness or tartness to taste.
  5. Check final taste and consistency; for glazing, warm the substitute slightly if needed to loosen and achieve glossy finish.

Notes

  • Peach jam is best overall substitute for smoothness and sweetness.
  • Apricot preserves can be blended smooth to replace jam texture.
  • Honey-lemon mix is good for dressings but won’t thicken or gel.
