Ingredients

  • 2 slices whole grain bread thick-cut, about one inch slices
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter natural, room temperature for easy spreading
  • 1 medium banana ripe but firm, sliced into quarter-inch rounds
  • sea salt pinch, optional, to sprinkle over banana slices
  • cinnamon sprinkle, optional, to add warmth

Equipment

  • Toaster or toaster oven To toast the bread
  • Butter knife To spread peanut butter evenly

Method

  1. Toast the bread slices in a toaster or toaster oven at medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes until golden and crispy.
  2. Let the toast cool on a plate for 30 seconds to stop melting the peanut butter but keep it spreadable.
  3. Spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter evenly on each slice, covering the surface from center to edges.
  4. Slice the banana into quarter-inch rounds and layer on top of the peanut butter, covering edge to edge.
  5. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and cinnamon over the banana slices if using, and serve immediately while warm and crisp.

Notes

Let toast cool 30 seconds before spreading peanut butter to prevent melting and sogginess.
